The next weekend brings us to Las Vegas for the NHRA
Sportsman National Open. The Schedule was for a Sat one day race with qualifying and eliminations run in the same day. The
forecast temps were in the 110 degree, and the weather man was right on the money. The searing heat made it a rough day of
racing, we sat out the first 2 rounds of qualifying, waiting for the air temp and track temp to go down. At 7pm we made the
final round of qualifying and we ran a very good 6.91, which put us in the #1 Qual Spot. We advanced to the final to meet
up with 3 time PSCA Pro Street Champ Ed Thornton in The Fast Motorsports twin turbo 57 chevy bel air. Eds car broke a 3rd
member in his semi final bye run, after a quick thrash Eds team was able to fix the car and make it to the final. The Exciting
Final round run at near midnite would prove to be a close race as the 2 cars left together and ran side by side to the finish.
The ets were a winning 6.89 to a losing 6.90, both cars making there best run of the day in the cooler temps. "It was
a great final, and a close race "Im glad they fixed the car and we got a chance to race for The Wally" " This
is Our first ever NHRA Wally and we our very excited to win"
